Paternity Leave
Changes laid down in the Work and Families Act 2006 relating to statutory paternity leave will come into force on 6 April 2010.
They will apply to parents of children due on or after 3 April 2011. The changes will provide eligible employees (usually fathers) with the right to up to six months' additional paternity leave before the child's first birthday.
The checklist summarises the changes and suggests how businesses should respond to requests for additional paternity leave.
