What does Good Divorce Week 2025 mean for you?

What does Good Divorce Week 2025 mean for you?

As members of Resolution Ware and Kay follow a Code of Practice which focuses on dealing with family matters in a family first way.  Ware and Kay are supporting Resolution’s Good Divorce Week, an annual campaign which takes place this year from 10th November 2025.  What does this mean for you?

If you are facing a relationship breakdown or breakdown in arrangements for your children you may be unaware of all the options open to you to reach a resolution which works for your family.

You may feel that an application to court is the only guarantee of a clear outcome which you can rely upon. Without early advice couples can be dismissive of more non-confrontational alternatives without understanding the benefits or outcomes which can be achieved where recent statistics show over a thousand cases are started in the family court each working day.  This has led to a crisis in the family courts of lengthy delays; the average length of cases are up 36% since 2018 with an average case taking 41 weeks to progress from application to conclusion in the last year.  Delays of this length can increase your feelings of uncertainty during a difficult period and can potentially increase both hostility between couples and increase costs.

If you feel unclear regarding the options you have available and whether these would be better for your situation it is important to seek early advice.  An application to court may not be right for your family and is only one of several options to resolve issues in a clear manner which can be relied upon.

Whilst early advice may attract a cost the downside of finding out too late about ways to improve the process and outcomes for their family and their children is having a negative impact on families.   This Good Divorce Week Ware and Kay are calling on the government, courts and separating couples to work together to find a better way through investment in early legal information and advice.  It is our belief that access to early advice funded by the government would lead to a reduced burden on the court system and better outcomes for families in our area.

At Ware and Kay our experienced Family Solicitors can discuss the different options available and will work with you to avoid increasing conflict and costs.
