Accounts Assistant

Location: York

Part Time – 2 Days per Week

The Ideal Candidate:

The Accounts Assistant role provides an opportunity to play an integral part in supporting the Accounts Department, with a strong focus on legal accounts administration and regulatory compliance. You will help ensure that client and office funds are handled accurately and in full accordance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements.

As part of an experienced accounts team, you will support a variety of finance and administrative functions that are essential to the effective running of the firm. This varied and detail-focused role is well suited to an individual with strong numerical ability, a proactive and organised approach, and a high level of accuracy and discretion. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with the day-to-day operation of the Accounts Department and supporting legal accounts compliance
  • Accurately posting client account transactions and checking bills and completion statements
  • Processing daily bankings, cheques, and payments via online banking systems
  • Responding to client and internal queries relating to accounts and payments
  • Assisting with client and office account reconciliations
  • Maintaining accurate, auditable financial records and filing in line with regulatory requirements

Supporting end-of-day procedures, reporting, and ad hoc accounts tasks

Requirements / Desirables

  • Strong numeracy skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Previous administrative or accounts experience
  • Good IT skills, including experience using Microsoft Office
  • Ability to manage confidential information professionally
  • Organised, reliable, and able to manage deadlines
  • Experience in a legal or professional services environment
