As a Solicitor, I enjoy working closely with businesses on their commercial and corporate matters, helping them navigate key legal decisions in a practical and clear way.
Background
Caroline qualified as a solicitor in 1993 and advises large, medium and small businesses on their corporate and commercial legal needs. She offers a knowledgeable, practical and clear approach, with a particular focus on supporting owner-managed businesses.
Caroline has worked as a corporate solicitor in London and Southampton, latterly in her own family firm, advising a diverse range of businesses. Her work includes the sale and purchase of businesses, shareholder and partnership agreements, business-critical commercial contracts (including supply of goods and services, distribution and financial agreements), as well as corporate governance and structuring.
Having previously studied at the University of York, Caroline moved to York from Hampshire in 2024 and joined Ware & Kay in January 2026. Outside of work, she enjoys playing hockey and, since moving to York, has taken up pickleball and joined a local choir.
What clients say:
“Having been extremely satisfied with Ware & Kay’s services when we purchased our business in 2013, we had no hesitation in instructing them once again when it became time to sell and retire.
In what became an infinitely more complex transaction than the purchase, we were heavily reliant on the experience, knowledge and patience of Caroline Whitaker and Gemma Foster; Corporate and Commercial Property respectively. Both of them inspired total confidence that we had chosen the right people in the right company to successfully get our sale completed on the best terms possible. We would have no hesitation in recommending both Caroline and Gemma to anyone buying or selling a business.”
