Growing law firm Ware & Kay Solicitors is adding to its team with the appointment of Laura Schofield at its Wetherby office, to assist the elderly and infirm in the management of their estates.

Laura Schofield

Laura, an experienced solicitor, will specifically focus on Wills and the administration of estates including overseeing the financial affairs of the infirm and elderly clients, while advising on the inheritance tax implications based on individual circumstances.

Laura will help clients to protect against the difficulties that arise in dealing with finances or personal decisions if mental capacity is lost, by preparing a lasting power of attorney. She is also highly experienced with Court of Protection proceedings and deputyship applications.

Following the Graduate Diploma in Law and the Legal Practice Course at Northumbria University, Laura gained valuable experience and knowledge working in Wills and Probate Departments at two practices in York and qualified as a Solicitor in 2012. Laura is also the Chair of the York Junior Lawyers Division and the Honorary Treasurer of the Yorkshire Law Society.

Laura said, "Ware & Kay is a long established law firm with a first class reputation and I am thrilled to be part of its expansion plans as the Wills & Probate team continues to grow and flourish. I love my role helping people to get their financial and property affairs in order and enjoy advising them on everything from drafting Wills and estate planning to helping with inheritance tax matters. It's exciting to have the opportunity to develop my career in Wetherby and get to know the people in this area."

Michael Peach, Director said, "We are really pleased to welcome Laura to the department. Her extensive experience and expert knowledge in Wills & Probate with particular focus on the elderly really complements the team. She comes to us with considerable experience in providing bespoke advice to a wide range of clients and high net worth individuals on making a Will or probate administration. The Wills & Probate team delivers excellent service to clients, and the addition of a new team member will enable us to continue to do so as we move forward."
