How does our Will Writing Scheme work?

YTH_logoWe have offered to give both our time and expertise for free to support York Teaching Hospital Charity's Will Writing Scheme.

It's really simple to take part:

1. Contact us between 2nd and 13th October 2017 to make an appointment. Be sure to mention York Teaching Hospital Charity Will Writing Scheme. We have limited availability so please book early to avoid disappointment.

3. Complete the pledge form in this leaflet and hand it to us at your appointment.

4. At your first appointment we will discuss your intentions and then draft your Will.

5. You will need a second appointment within 6 weeks of the first to approve, complete and sign your Will*.

There is no charge from us* for writing your Will however we ask that you support York Teaching Hospital Charity in return for the time donated by your solicitor.

Why make a Will?

Only three out of ten of us will make a Will.

By putting our affairs in order, regardless of how big or small they are, you can give security to your loved ones and make things easier should the worst happen.

Having a Will ensures you decide who inherits your estate and personal belongings and you can appoint guardians to look after any children under 18 years.

Support now, make a donation

Depending on the type of Will you need, the time to draw it up will vary. We suggest the following amounts:

  • £50 to change an existing Will
  • £120 for a new Will
  • £200 for a pair of mirror Wills

Support in the future, leave a legacy

A legacy will help to ensure we can continue to care for your local hospital in the future. It can be as large or small as your like; you could leave a set amount, a percentage of your estate or simply what is left once your family and friends have been taken care of.

How your support can make a difference

Donations and legacies have a lasting benefit for everyone who visits one of our hospitals. Thanks to a recent legacy, we have been able to make plans for a refurbishment of Children's Services at Scarborough Hospital, bringing them up to date and making them more child friendly for future generations to receive the best possible care.

Thanks to donations, our hospitals are brighter places to be with a changing program of artwork in corridors and waiting rooms.

* Please note your solicitor may charge a fee for their time if you don't arrange your follow-up appointment and complete your Will within the 6 week timescale.
